Weaning Celebration

29th Feb 2016

Weaning is such a huge deal for both a nursling and a nursing mother. It marks the end of a very intimate, powerful, shifting stage of your lives, and many families choose to honor this event with a ceremony or celebration.

Jewish families often celebrate a weaning ritual that honors a feast Abraham held for his son Isaac.

Some other families throw a party or tie weaning into another celebration, like a birthday. Some women run out and stock up on Nightquil and turtlenecks because they can.

At Levana Bratique, we think a bra fitting and a beautiful new bra make great gifts for a mother to celebrate this transition for her breasts.

For one thing, your breasts deserve something new and beautiful after the hard work they did nourishing your new baby!

Breasts and rib cages go through so many changes throughout the course of a pregnancy and breastfeeding journey, and many women find they end up a very different size than they were before pregnancy, even if they have returned to their former weight.

You might wean your baby and discover your old bras now have cup gaping, spillage, or just plain don't fit.

Even if you've been buying nursing bras with us for years, we'd love to welcome you in for a fitting after you've weaned your baby and suggest some of our regular bras that will offer you the same support, comfort, and quality. We can also offer you a hug, because we know this moment can be bittersweet.

Remember: If you aren't local, you can still treat yourself to a virtual fitting.

We can't think of a better way to honor this wonderful stage of your life.
